Five Long Island Rail Road train stations can be accessed throughout Garden City. Several train lines run through these stations, connecting locals to Grand Central, Penn Station, Hempstead, Huntington and Ronkonkoma. Commuters can take State Route 25 for a direct connection to the Queensboro Bridge. John F. Kennedy International Airport is just 10 miles west of the village and NYU Langone Hospital is less than a mile north on First Street.
Shopping and dining along Franklin Avenue
Garden City’s shopping and dining is primarily concentrated along Franklin Avenue. Locals have quick access to grocery stores like Kings Food Markets and other chains like CVS. The village has a range of dining options, including Salvadoran, Italian and Belgian eateries, as well as American favorites like barbeque and seafood.
Roosevelt Field, the largest mall on Long Island, is also just 2 miles east and features nearly 300 stores, a food court and an AMC movie theater. There’s also a Whole Foods Market and a Trader Joe’s close to the mall.

And North Hempstead Beach Park is less than 10 miles north with a sandy coast along the harbor, a boat launch and a fishing pier.
