A suburban neighborhood in Garland with a noble name
Hear ye, hear ye! While King Arthur and Guinevere don't call it home, the centrally located suburban neighborhood known as Camelot offers designer homes that are fit for royalty and surrounded by small city amenities, well-regarded school districts and long swaths of green space. "Two of the biggest draws to Camelot are the location and the price point," says Realtor Melissa Touris, a principal of the Touris and Leech Group at Compass Real Estate. Grocers, department stores and chain restaurants are situated along President George Bush Highway, which runs through Camelot's lower leg. The highway provides an easy route to get to both Plano and Garland cities, along with a myriad of shopping outlets, diverse eateries and lively bars. Touris adds that it is relatively easy to find employment here as the neighborhood is within reasonable commuting distance of Dallas. Downtown Garland is within 5 miles of Camelot and has recently undergone a significant renovation that exceeded $25 million. The new downtown Garland includes an imaginative play area, a lawn for events and gatherings and prism gateways that light up at night – providing the perfect backdrop for live music.

A groovy selection of Centennial homes built by Fox & Jacobs
Several small bodies of water that run straight through the neighborhood are framed by rows of primarily Traditional and midcentury modern ranch homes. Most residences were built during the Fox & Jacobs heydays, which took place between the 1970s and mid-1990s. Generally, prices fall between $250,000 and $750,000, depending on the property's living space, which typically ranges from 1,400 to 4,100 square feet and offers three to five bedrooms. Camelot-area folks take pride in their homes, which is made apparent by the Camelot Neighborhood Association Yard of the Month winners' immaculate lawns. Yard of the Month isn't the only contest sponsored by the voluntary association. The annual neighborhood picnic and chili cook-off, held in the fall, provides Camelot residents another opportunity for friendly competition and neighborly camaraderie.
