The established English neighborhood is a convenient suburban enclave located just a few miles from downtown Garland and 15 miles from downtown Dallas. With Garland being the third-most populated city in the Metroplex, areas of residential peace are sought after. "It is a very nice, suburban place," says Sandra Prieto, a Global Realty Realtor with over 12 years of experience. "It's just a nice community." English's modest midcentury homes are close to parks, the DART light rail and popular chain restaurants and big-box stores lining Highway 78, which runs alongside the neighborhood.
English is conveniently located near major highways, providing easy access to Garland.

Craftsman and ranch-style homes built in the 1950s and 1960s line English's streets, which feature sidewalks shaded by towering oak and mesquite trees. Modest homes, ranging from 1,000 square feet to 2,500 square feet, typically have well-manicured lawns, fenced backyards and garages or driveways. Some back up onto a small creek that meanders through the neighborhood. Homes generally range between $220,000 and $350,000, with updated homes on the higher end. Housing prices in English are comparable to nearby neighborhoods like Devonwood, Axe and Williams.

Garland Independent School District's "Choose Your School" program allows families to take their pick of the district's 72 schools. Williams Elementary School earns a B-minus rating from Niche and recently consolidated with Park Crest Elementary, now functioning as a single school with students from both locations. Sam Houston Middle School, a C-plus-rated institution nearby, offers several award-winning arts programs, including band, choir and wind ensemble. Garland High School earns a B-plus rating and is known for its athletic department, having won several state and district championships in various sports.

Across Highway 78, Tinsley Park's open green space and sidewalks make it convenient to go for a walk or take the dog out to burn off some energy. A modest playground gives children an area to play next to covered picnic tables.

Nearby, La Flor De Maria Cocina Latina serves Mexican food staples like quesadillas and pupusas. Just west of Shiloh Road, Burger Land offers several types of burgers and sandwiches with various toppings. Richardson Square, in the neighboring city of Richardson, has big-name retailers like Target and Burlington.

Take the DART throughout the Metroplex
The major roadways Highway 78 and Shiloh Road provide quick access to other parts of Garland, including downtown Garland, a couple of miles east. Several bus stops along Shiloh Road and Forest Lane run roughly every 12 minutes. The DART rail train runs throughout the Metroplex from the nearby Forest/Jupiter rail station and is about a 20-minute ride to downtown Dallas on the Blue Line. DFW International Airport is about 28 miles away. The DART Orange Line goes straight to the DFW Airport; travelers must transfer to an Orange Line in downtown Dallas and board a train with "DFW" destination signs. The nearest hospital is Parkland Garland Adult Care Clinic, about three miles east on West Miller Road.
