Central Garland neighborhood within Dallas County
As one of Garland’s central neighborhoods, Ridgewood offers homebuyers unmatched accessibility, affordability and comfort. “It’s one of Garland’s older neighborhoods, with most homes built between 1940 and 1960, and it’s really close to schools and shopping,” says Patrick Abell, a Realtor with United Real Estate Dallas and a 26-year resident of the area with extensive experience selling in the neighborhood. Reminiscent of the neighborhood’s age, the area is also filled with mature trees and foliage. “The Garland area is big because of the affordability with homes,” says Kenia Sanchez, a real estate agent with Rogers Healy and Associates. “While it’s not in centralized Dallas, it’s still Dallas County so taxes will be lower.”

Ranch homes just south of central Garland
Ridgewood features a modest collection of ranch homes, many of which are clad in deep red brick. There are also some split-levels on Ridgedale Drive. Narrow driveways connect to wide sidewalks, and slim alleyways provide easy access to additional parking in the rear of the home. Although not expansive, these lots are still large enough to accommodate a small pool or patio, and mature trees provide ample shade in the summer. “Most of these homes are going to be in the $300,000 range, making it one of Garland’s more affordable areas,” Abell says. Depending on size, age and renovations, homes can sell for anywhere between $200,000 and $400,000, with most of the larger homes sitting closest to the park’s wooded border. Since Garland as a whole is a highly desired area, homebuyers may be up against multiple offers and sales over the asking price.
