Parks by the Fox River
On both sides of the river, the Fabyan Forest Preserve spans 235 acres with notable attractions. On the west bank is the Fabyan Villa Museum & Japanese Garden. They are both open to the public from May through mid-October. The farmhouse from the mid-1800s was remodeled by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1907 and was lived in by businessman George Fabyan and his wife Nelle for 31 years. The house contains artifacts collected by the family and some furniture from the period. The 1-acre Japanese Garden is close and is a destination for those seeking quiet and reflection. A pedestrian bridge crosses the Fox River, and on the east side is a 68-foot-tall authentic Dutch windmill. It was built in the 1850s, and renovations were completed in 2005. The Gunnar Anderson Forest preserve consists of 20 acres of woodlands. A footpath on the preserve’s western edge leads to the Sacred Heart Grotto. Bikers and hikers enjoy the Fox River Bike Trail, which follows the waterway for 40 miles. The Sunset Community Center is a large indoor gym away from the river, and Sunset Pool provides relief during the summer during hot Chicagoland summers. The Eagle Brook County Club features a private golf course just west of the neighborhood.
Situated between downtown and the Fox River, Southwest Central Geneva residents can enjoy both.

The downtown area has events scheduled throughout the year, including a restaurant week in January, a classic car show that shuts down 3rd Street, the main downtown road, in August, downtown trick-or-treating during Halloween and a lighting of the downtown tree and carolers during the annual Christmas Walk. The closest restaurants are downtown, such as The Burger Local, a vintage industrial-inspired restaurant next to the Geneva Metra station. For a change of pace at a burger restaurant, the mac and cheese bowl includes lobster, bacon and pimento cheese. Preservation specializes in comfort foods, like short ribs and chicken pot pies.
