"The standout event of the year is the Festival of the Horse," Marson says. "It's a massive downtown celebration lasting three days in September. It draws nearly 25,000 to 30,000 attendees for the weekend and the festival attracts crowds from high-density areas like Cincinnati." Seventeen miles south, another popular venue, Keeneland, hosts world-class horse races each October and April.
