Addison
Suburban Neighborhood in Glastonbury, Connecticut
Hartford County 06033

Large lots on quiet streets
Inventory is limited in Addison, and for good reason. When homebuyers are lucky enough to find a Colonial Revival or new traditional build with multiple bedrooms and an attached garage, they will want to stay. Generous green lawns bordered by mature trees add to the privacy of the already peaceful town. With prices lower than the rest of Glastonbury, there's a competitive market. A few townhouses are available for around $300,000; however, the area is primarily subdivisions branching out from one another. Single-family houses range from $350,000 to $600,000, with a few outliers depending on the house's age, land, and size. Sidewalks are standard in town and are frequented by residents going for a stroll or jogging along the Cape Cods and ranches of some streets.
A town that loves their sports and outdoor spaces
Residents head to Addison Park, a beloved greenspace for fresh air and a chance to get active. "Residents in the area are big on sports. There are always soccer and Little League games going on," Finer mentions. Tennis courts, the playground and a basketball court get ample attention, and a public pool offers an escape from the occasional summer heat. The park is well kept, with lush green grass, trimmed trees and frequent cleaning. A popular gathering place for the area, it's considered a gem of Addison. J.B. Williams Park and Bell-Hebron Linear Park are also in the neighborhood. Both parks offer heavily forested walking trails leading to pavilions, benches and brooks.
The best school district in the Hartford area
Addison falls under the Glastonbury Public Schools system, the highest-rated district in the Hartford area. With an A-plus overall and A-plus ratings across the board for its teachers, academics, clubs, activities and college prep, this school system is a significant draw for homebuyers with school-aged children. "People move here specifically for the school systems. In fact, 63% of tax dollars go to the town's education," says Finer, who has lived there since 1978. Students in Addison can start their journey at the A-rated Hebron Avenue School, followed by Smith Middle School, which also receives an A. Glastonbury High School serves the entire community, and this A-plus school has active sports programs and clubs for its students. National Art Society, jazz band, forensic club and FIRST Robotics Club are just some choices accompanying the booming sports facilities. Well supported by the community, the high school brings in crowds of Addison residents to support the Guardians.
A short drive from the employers Hartford is known for
Set along Route 2, Addison residents can easily travel 7 miles to downtown Hartford. Nicknamed the "insurance capital of the world," the state's capital is home to many large businesses that may employ Addison locals. Though it's close to a highway, Addison's dense trees and rolling hills block out sound, keeping it from noise pollution. No transit exists within Addison's boundaries, so residents rely on their cars to get to work and run errands. Bradley International Airport is 20 miles north of the neighborhood, and the nearest major hospital is Hartford Hospital.
Wood-fired pizza from a traditional brick oven
The neighboring area of Glastonbury Center is where most Addison residents can find a fancy meal out or for retail shopping in one of the many plazas. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop and some national chain restaurants are just across Route 2. For a laid-back bite to eat, however, Square Peg Pizzeria is the top choice. Known for its wood oven-fired pizzas, the establishment also serves hand-crafted cocktails, oversized sandwiches and staple Italian pasta dishes. Growing popularity prompted the restaurant to open further locations in Connecticut. It also opened a food truck for catering parties and events. One door over, Berkins Blend Café provides a fix for caffeine lovers. Run by a husband and wife, the shop brings people in with its mouthwatering aromas and keeps them there with its cozy, homey atmosphere.
