Glen Gardner offers rural serenity near recreation areas
Glen Gardner is a rural Hunterdon County borough known for its natural beauty, convenient location and access to outdoor recreation. Homes from the 18th and 19th centuries line the picturesque Main Street, and the Spruce Run Recreation Area — popular for its reservoir — is nearby. Farms and forests sit just outside the community, which is less than 10 minutes from Clinton and Interstate 78. “It’s rural, but it's close to state Route 31 and I-78, so it’s central to a lot of different areas,” says Amy Sova, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Fox & Roach who’s sold homes in the area for over 10 years. “There’s a little bit less traffic, and you get more space and better property values for your money.”

Natural areas for outdoor recreation and a haunted museum nearby
The centrally located Veteran’s Memorial Park on Main Street has a playground, basketball court and baseball field. Nearby, the nearly 1,300-acre Spruce Run Recreation Area’s reservoir is one of the area’s biggest draws for boating and fishing, plus it’s surrounded by hiking trails through maple and pine forests. The 170-acre Union Furnace Preserve also has hiking and is open for deer hunting in fall and winter.
In Clinton, the Red Mill Museum Village documents the area’s agricultural history and is rumored to be haunted. Each October, the museum hosts the popular Haunted Red Mill fundraiser, which transforms the museum into a haunted house with jump scares, creepy decorations and a haunted hayride.
