Woodbury offers homes in the hills near the center of Glendale
Woodbury is a hilly Glendale community that sits northeast of the city’s downtown district and south of Glendale Community College. Many of its homes are tucked away on narrow streets carved into brush-laden hillsides. “Woodbury is a little pocket in the foothills with some nice views. There’s also an affordability factor. It’s a little less expensive than some nearby Glendale communities. It’s very close to the highway,” says Eugene Ridenour, an agent with Compass Real Estate, who has worked in the area for more than two decades.
It sits at the crook of an intersection of two highways — State Route 2 and State Route 134 — making its well-placed for commuting. Adventist Health Glendale, the largest hospital in the San Fernando Valley, sits at the southern corner of the neighborhood. It’s a major area employer with more than 800 physicians on staff. “It’s one of the best hospitals in the area,” Ridenour says.
The Woodbury neighborhood features a charming mix of historic and contemporary homes, including Spanish Revival, mid-century ranch, and Craftsman bungalows.
Woodbury is a quiet, residential neighborhood in Glendale known for its tree-lined streets and family-friendly atmosphere.

The neighborhood has a mix of home styles, alongside some condos and apartments
Eclectic early and mid-20th century architecture abounds in Woodbury. Summery Mediterranean Revivals, steep-roofed Tudor Revival homes, ranch styles and custom-built homes can all be found here. Prices range from around $1 million to nearly $3 million depending on home size and the extent of its renovations. “You’ve got a lot of different home styles there. It’s a good mix of architecture from the 20th century,” Ridenour says. The neighborhood’s gently winding streets climb the hills, affording some lovely views of the city’s surroundings. While it’s mostly made up of single-family homes, there are also apartments and condos available. More than half of its residents are renters.
Many homes in Woodbury reflect the elegant 1930s Spanish Revival style, featuring arched doorways, wrought‑iron details, tile roofs, and Batchelder fireplaces.
Contemporary Mediterranean homes in Woodbury are known for their elegant curb appeal, with manicured gardens, columned porches, and detailed exterior lighting.

Community parks and mountainous trails are within a few miles
Verdugo Park is less than 3 miles away. At 40 acres, it offers a playground, shady groves of trees, ballfields and a concrete skatepark, all with a view of the Verdugo Mountains. Neighborhoods close to the park have trailheads that extend out into the mountains, offering a place for hiking and biking with sweeping views of the Los Angeles County skyline. Avid golfers can tee up at the Chevy Chase Country Club, about 2 miles away. The neighborhood’s proximity to the Verdugo Mountains means it is at a higher risk for wildfires compared to areas closer to the city’s downtown core. During the Eaton Fire in early 2025, Glendale didn’t experience any wildfires, which were primarily located in Altadena and Pasadena. However, the city was impacted by winds, smoke and debris.

The high school is known for sports and extracurriculars, including its award-winning dance and drill team. The team has won more than 50 national championships, most recently in 2023. Glendale Adventist Academy, within the neighborhood, provides a private elementary, middle and high school option. It gets an A-minus rating.
R.D. White Elementary is known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community involvement.

Local shopping is close by, as is Downtown Glendale
There are a few shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. Locals enjoy Mediterranean flavors at Pardis Restaurant, while Fuji Buffet & Grill is the go-to for everything from barbecue to sushi. Groceries are available at the local Ararat Market, Fish King seafood market and Golden Farms Market. “Fish King is locally, if not regionally, famous. It’s got a great selection of fresh fish, and it has a restaurant inside,” Ridenour says. A wide array of dining and shopping options are available less than 3 miles away in Glendale’s lively City Center neighborhood. Indoor shopping malls, high-end fashion, big box stores and major grocery chains can all be found there.

Those who require public transportation will find bus stops in the neighborhood along North Glendale Avenue and along Harvey Drive.
