Crestwood is a quiet subdivision in Glendale

Locals say the quiet subdivision of Crestwood stands out in the Milwaukee suburb of Glendale. “It’s kind of its own little separate spot,” says Pete Gohsman, a Realtor with the Gohsman Group of Keller Williams Milwaukee North Shore who lives in Glendale. “It’s kind of closed in a little bit. You do have more of a subdivision feel, but it’s not a gated community by any means.” In addition to its peaceful atmosphere, homebuyers look to Crestwood for its highly rated schools, nearby shopping hotspots and access to the freeway.

Diverse architecture and stone work on the neighborhood's homes

Crestwood's residential streets have plenty of greenery. The median of Crestwood Boulevard is overgrown with trees and brush, while tall oaks sometimes create a full canopy over the neighborhood streets. Architecture varies from ranch-style homes and split-levels to Colonial Revivals and even some Tudor influences. But most homes share an earth tone palette and stonework facades. Prices tend to range from $215,000 to $410,000.

Highly rated schools include Nicolet Union High

Parkway Elementary serves kindergarten through third grade and receives a B-plus grade from Niche, while Glen Hills Middle gets a B for fourth through eighth. A-rated Nicolet Union High is ranked the sixth-best public high school in the state. Nearby private schools include Eastbrook Academy and Dominican High, each receiving an A.

Shopping and dining at Bayshore, plus local spots

The major roads near Crestwood are home to car dealerships and strip malls, like the Silver Mill shopping center that sits a mile away on Teutonia Avenue. The Save A Lot at Silver Mill is the closest grocery store, but more shopping can be found just east at Bayshore, a mixed-use development just over a mile away. The area features retailers like Kohl’s and Target, plus specialty stores including Bath & Body Works and Ulta Beauty. Restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory and California Pizza Kitchen are also located at Bayshore. Meanwhile, The Brick Pub and Grill is a mile from the neighborhood, featuring daily specials like Sunday brunch.

Easy commutes within Glendale or 7 miles south to Milwaukee

Sidewalks line most of Crestwood’s streets, and residents can walk throughout the neighborhood. However, driving is most common, as most destinations are over a mile away. Silver Spring Drive leads a mile east to Interstate 43, the main highway through Glendale. Downtown Milwaukee is 7 miles away via the interstate, though the Milwaukee County Transit System also operates bus lines through Crestwood. Commuters often don’t have far to go, though, as Glendale is home to employers of its own.

The Oak Leaf Trail connects Crestwood to nearby parks

Wingate Park, a small park within Crestwood, has a playground and benches under a thick canopy of trees. Residents can also access the Oak Leaf Trail from the neighborhood. The path runs a total of 135 miles across all its segments, connecting to other recreation options like Richard E. Maslowski Glendale Community Park and Lincoln Park. Glendale Community Park has baseball fields and an accessible playground, plus an amphitheater. Lincoln Park spans both sides of the Milwaukee River, with paths along the water. The park has a pool with water slides, plus facilities for sports like basketball, soccer and golf. “There’s a nice little golf course there that’s good for a quick nine holes before work,” Gohsman says.

Community celebrations for the Fourth of July and Oktoberfest

The city of Glendale has plenty of community events for Crestwood residents, especially over the summer. The weekly Live at the Oasis concert series features local acts at Glendale Community Park. Holiday festivals include the annual Fourth of July Celebration, headlined by a parade, live music and a fireworks show at Kletzsch Park. Each fall, visitors from across the area celebrate Milwaukee’s Original Oktoberfest at the Bavarian Bierhaus, 2 miles from Crestwood. The event features German food and beer, polka music and carnival games.

Limited flood risk throughout the neighborhood

Parts of Glendale can experience minor to moderate flooding, as in August 2025, when record rainfall hit the region. However, Crestwood is less susceptible due to its location farther from the Milwaukee River and Lincoln Creek.
