Southridge’s well-kept single-family homes
Most homes in Southridge-Golden sit on large lots with landscaped lawns and driveways. The streets are wide and dotted with mature trees. “The homes are mostly single-family, and it’s a little more affordable than right in downtown Golden,” says Realtor and Residential Specialist Andy Verleger with WestBound Realty, who has 20 years of experience. Ranch-style homes and split-levels are the main housing types, though there are a handful of raised ranches with tucked-in garages. These properties have brick and vinyl exteriors and were built in the 1960s and 1970s. Prices range from $600,000 to $950,000 for homes that span 1,100 to 2,500 square feet. There are also multi-story townhouses built in the 1980s that go for $600,000 to $700,000. Closer to South Golden Road, there are several apartment complexes offering units for rent, including Golden Arms Apartments and Fox Hill Apartments, which come with amenities such as an outdoor pool and a clubhouse.Nearby parks and mountain trails
Southridge Park is the neighborhood’s namesake green space and closest source of recreation. There’s a playground area, a picnic pavilion, tennis courts and a basketball court. A red cement pathway winds throughout the area’s grassy fields, functioning as a walking loop. Right outside the grounds is the Golden Roller Hockey Rink. Additionally, Ulysses Park is a sports complex across South Golden Road with multiple playing fields. Visitors can enjoy the skateboard park and practice on baseball and soccer fields. There’s also an off-leash dog park at Ulysses for those with furry friends. The Golden Cyclocross Park is an unofficial cross-country bicycling course on the other side of Johnson Road with several riding loops to practice on. A weeknight race series called Back2Basics CX takes place at the park during the late summer. Nearby is Fossil Trace Golf Club and its 18-hole course, most notable for the dinosaur fossils visible on rock formations by the 12th hole.Several trails climb South Table Mountain along the neighborhood’s northeastern side. The Shoshonite Trail allows hiking, biking and horseback riding along it. Switchbacks assist with the steep elevation, and Thumb Rock is a picture-worthy attraction along the trail. South Mountain Table Park has additional pathways carved into the landscape that showcase panoramic views along the way.
