Growing lakefront community with a historic downtown square
Nicknamed the “Celebration Capital of Texas,” Granbury is a lakefront city 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth. The town gets its name for its 40 annual events, bringing in over 75,000 people yearly. While the events bring locals in for the day, they stay for Lake Granbury. Across 8,310 acres, the lake allows residents to boat, jet ski, kayak and swim. “As far as lake towns, Granbury is an upscaled lake atmosphere,” says Pam Knieper, a Granbury resident and Broker with Knieper Real Estate. Residents often spend the weekends swimming at the lake’s City Beach Park. “It was actually named one of the top 10 beaches in the United States and the only one on a lake,” says Morris Duree, a Realtor at Vybe Realty. The city’s historic downtown square, named to the National Register of Historic Places, has 40 boutique shops and restaurants, adding to the city’s appeal. As for work, many commute from Granbury. “About 70 percent of our workforce commutes into the Metroplex for work,” Duree says. “The other 30 percent are local professionals.” Knieper adds, “We have very little industry here.” About 12,000 people call Granbury home, a 50 percent increase since 2010.
