Nearly halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth in Grand Prairie sits the community of CentrePort. A majority renter’s neighborhood, CentrePort is well-regarded for its central location. “People enjoy the vicinity of the airport,” says Jerry Lumpkins, a property manager at Centreport Landing. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is just 3 miles north. When asked if proximity to the airport brought noise, Ashley Griggs, a leasing agent at Three60 North Apartments, said, “Not at all.” CentrePort sits between Texas State Highway 360 and Texas 121 TEXpress, giving its residents easy access to the rest of the Metroplex. Nearby Mike Lewis Park, quality restaurants and the City of Grand Prairie’s community events add to the neighborhood’s appeal.

Ranch-style and new-traditional brick homes

Single-family homes in Centreport are ranch-style and new-traditional brick houses that sit on an average of about a fifth of an acre. Single-family homes don’t hit the market often, but ones that have sold have gone in the mid $400,000s. In addition to these detached homes, the neighborhood has a collection of condos, which have sold for between $165,000 and $220,000. Along with condominiums, CentrePort also has apartment complexes. The neighborhood is 87 percent renters and 13 percent property owners. As for crime, the CAP Index gave CentrePort a Crime Score of 4 out of 10, on par with the national average.

P-Tech program at Lamar High School

Students in CentrePort may attend schools within the Arlington Independent School District. Starting in pre-kindergarten, children may attend Larson Elementary School, which earns a C grade from Niche. In seventh grade, students may move onto B-minus-graded Nichols Junior High School before attending B-graded Lamar High School. Lamar High is home to the Pathways in Technology Early College High Schools (P-Tech) program. The program is designed for those students who want to earn a certificate or associate degree alongside their high school diploma. The program prioritizes hands-on learning for those interested in business and cybersecurity. As for private options, the Islamic School of Irving and Stonegate Christian Academy are nearby and serve pre-K through 12th grade. The Islamic School of Irving earns an A from Niche, while Stonegate Christian Academy earns a B-plus.

Near Texas State Highway 360 and Texas 121 TEXpress

CentrePort is bordered by Texas State Highway 360 to the west and Texas 121 TEXpress to the north. Proximity to these thoroughfares gives residents easy access to much of the Metroplex. Downtown Dallas is 19 miles away, while Downtown Fort Worth is 21 miles away. Locals can also take advantage of the Trinity Metro bus system from a stop at the intersection of Centreport Drive and Stapleton Lane. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is just 3 miles north of the neighborhood for flights. The nearest hospital is Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, 6 miles away.

From fishing at Mike Lewis Park to a round at Riverside Golf Club

For recreation, Mike Lewis Park has a variety of sports fields, a basketball court and a playground for kids. The park also has a fishing pond for those looking for their next catch. The public Riverside Golf Club features an 18-hole golf course, which is challenging for players of all skill levels. Near the golf course is the Beach at Lake Viridian, a scenic retreat from the business of life. Locals can lay out on the beach or sit in their favorite lawn chairs and listen to the calm of the water as the sun goes down in the evening. The 54-acre River Legacy Park – East features a half-mile hike and bike trail and has a great picnic area for a cookout. Little ones can create their own adventures on the playground, and everyone can join in on a volleyball game on the park’s sandy courts. For those who want to exercise indoors, the adjacent Elzie Odom Recreation Center is nearby. The center has two gymnasiums, a fitness room and a rock-climbing wall for those up for a challenge.

From breakfast at Triple-A Café to curry at Street Bowl Scratch Kitchen

Residents have a collection of places to grab a bite in CentrePort. Triple-A Café offers locals a place to start their day, serving breakfast and lunch for dine-in and takeout. Next door is Villa Grande Mexican Restaurant, which serves favorites like burritos, enchiladas and tacos. Street Bowl Scratch Kitchen serves authentic Thai food, including salads, noodles and curry. There is a Kroger about 4 miles away from CentrePort for groceries and everyday essentials.

Grand Prairie’s first annual Pickle Fest

The City of Grand Prairie offers various events throughout the year. In 2024, the Parks and Recreation Department launched its first Pickle Fest. This free event features a pickleball tournament, pickle vendors, a pickle-eating contest and drinks. Eventgoers can also enjoy live music.
