Lake Ridge and South Great SW Parkways intersect, cutting the suburbs in Sheffield in two halves. Wide streets, often connected or ending in cul-de-sacs, are lined by sidewalks and lawns featuring towering oaks and ornaments. Lot sizes range from 5,000 to 7,000 square feet, offering space for petite front yards and roomy backyards, often accompanied by a patio or private pool. Sheffield residences, primarily built from the 2000s to the present, feature brick facades, big front-facing windows and short driveways leading to two-car garages. Prices range from $300,000 to $350,000s for smaller residences and reach $400,000 to roughly $600,000 for newer homes offering up to 3,500 square feet.

Mansfield Independent School District serves Sheffield families

Sheffield’s younger residents may begin their education at Starrett Elementary, which has a C-plus grade from Niche. From there, they can move on to Barnett Jr. High and Bowie High, both of which share a B grade. Bowie High serves approximately 2,700 students from ninth to 12th grade and offers many clubs and organizations for students to participate in, including Speech and Debate, Fashion Club and the Bowie Board Game Club.

High Hawk Martin Meadows Park is located at the intersection of Lake Ridge Parkway and High Hawk Boulevard. The park features a small pond and a large, covered playground shaded from the hot Texas sun. The park also has a paved trail that winds throughout, and the covered picnic pavilion has tables for get-togethers.
Fish Creek Trail, also known as the “trail of two cities,” is a paved 7.3-mile trail that connects several parks spanning Arlington to Grand Prairie and includes bags to clean up after pets. Every Spring, the trail bursts with a range of native wildflowers. Parks connected to Fish Creek Trail are Fish Creek Linear Park, a hotspot for rollerblading and jogging, as well as Tails 'N Trails Dog Park.

Three miles from Walnut Creek is Joe Pool Lake. 60 miles of the lake’s shoreline consists of parks, marinas and campsites. Here, the 784-acre Lynn Creek Park offers sandy beaches with volleyball courts and boat ramps close to Lynn Creek Marina. Camping is popular with Loyd Park visitors, as well as hiking and horseback riding.

Popular local brews and ample grocery stores in Grand Prairie

Authentic Mexican food is what local favorite Pepper’s Street Tacos does best. This unassuming little spot on W Camp Wisdom Road is praised for its oversized portions of burritos and street tacos. Two miles away is Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. The small café is revered for its iced coffee, matcha lattes and pastries. Employees recommend the coffee cake, the decadent Biscoff milk cakes and honeycomb bread.
Several shopping hubs line South Cooper Street and Interstate 20, like Great Southwest Crossing. Aside from grocery stores like Walmart and Sam’s Club, along with several chain restaurants, the shopping center also houses two movie theaters, Grand Prairie PREMIERE LUX 10 & Pizza Pub and Cinemark Grand Prairie. There’s also Great Southwest Crossing off I-20. Larger-scale shopping malls include Prairie Premium Outlets, Arlington Highlands and The Parks Mall, which includes an ice rink.

Sheffield is in proximity to amusement parks and an NFL stadium

EpicCentral is one of the premier entertainment spots. It’s just 4 miles north and houses the Epic Black Box Theater. The AT&T Stadium is 4 miles farther than EpicCentral, and home to the Dallas Cowboys football team. Families can drive to Epic Waters Indoor Water Park to cool off or jump on thrilling rollercoasters at Six Flags Over Texas, 5 miles west.

Getting in and around Sheffield

Arlington is roughly 9 miles north, and locals can take Collins Street all the way into the downtown area. Interstate 20 and Texas State Highway 360 intersect in the neighborhood's northwest corner. Both highways are often used for commuting into Dallas and Fort Worth, which are 26 and 22 miles away, respectively. Sheffield is also about 15 miles south of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
For immediate healthcare needs, Baylor Scott and White Emergency Hospital is located on TX-360, and Medical City Arlington is 5 miles west via I-20.
