There are numerous green spaces within a mile of the neighborhood. “While residents are car-reliant for the most part, the nearby parks are a big draw,” Baker says. “Bittersweet Park is one of the most popular in the area, with walking trails surrounding its lake.” The park is also home to picnic tables and a playground. Sports enthusiasts can visit Sherwood Park for its pickleball, baseball and basketball facilities. A short drive west, the Greeley Country Club is home to a private, 18-hole golf course lined by mature oak and evergreen trees. The members-only club also has tennis and pickleball courts, a dining room and an outdoor pool with a waterside grill.
The Poudre River Trail is a paved path that spans over 20 miles through Windsor and to the outskirts of Fort Collins. The trail follows its namesake waterway through wooded groves, open prairies and farmland and features views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range. On weekdays, between April and November, Poudre River Trail Inc. runs the Cycling Without Age program, where seniors and mobility challenged people can ride along the trail in a volunteer-piloted trishaw. “We’ve been operating since the spring of 2020,” says Mike Ketterling, one of the volunteers who started the CWA chapter in Greeley. “Everything is done through volunteers and community donations. We have about 20 pilots, with a goal of making connections across generations in our city.”
The nearby Rocky Mountains provide endless opportunities for adventure and outdoor freedom.
