Hamilton Forest
Living beneath the Carolina trees
Most homes in Hamilton Forest were constructed between 1960 and 1980, with very little construction outside of that timeframe. Style and price point can vary; on one end of the spectrum prospective homeowners will find two- and three-bedroom Cape Cods or ranch-style homes listed around $350,000. On the other end, larger Colonial Revival homes with five bedrooms price closer to $600,000. Residents maximize their quarter-acre lots, with many adding trimmed bushes, Japanese cherry blossoms and flowering shrubs to the verdant gardens surrounding them. “The hardwoods are plentiful,” says Realtor Ed Purgason with EXP Realty, who’s been selling homes in the area for 32 years. “Absolutely beautiful trees that tower over 100 feet tall.”Scholastics in Hamilton Forest

Opened in 1949, Sternberger began with just eight classrooms and has now expanded to 22, accommodating over 300 students. They then move to Kiser Middle School, which earns a B and where students can participate in basketball leagues or the art club. They finish at Grimsley High School, which scores an A. The Grimsley Whirlies basketball squad was recently crowned as the Metro Conference Tournament Champions of 2024.Greensboro’s beautiful green spaces

There is plenty of open green space for a picnic on the grass and an available concrete athletic court for residents to use. Under a mile east of the neighborhood, locals can wander through the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden. Developed during the nation’s Bicentennial in 1976, there are nearly 8 acres of colorful floral arrangements at this garden, threaded through by several miles of walking trails with a distinctive bronze statue called The Student as its focal point. The Bog Garden at Benjamin Park, also under a mile from the neighborhood, features a lifted boardwalk that weaves through 7 acres of North Carolina wetlands. Both gardens are free and open to the public.Food and fun at Friendly Center

Residents can also grab lunch at Pieology Pizzeria, make reservations at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar for a celebratory evening out or devour a bucket of popcorn while watching the latest blockbuster at Regal Greensboro Grande Theater. The shopping center rubs shoulders with the Greensboro Botanical Gardens and features everything from department stores like Macy’s and Belk to Barnes & Noble, Caribou Coffee and REI.From Friendly Avenue to the interstate

Traditional Greek dance and music are showcased by live performances which draw over 10,000 visitors annually.Greensboro Beautiful’s NeighborWoods
Greensboro Beautiful is the local nonprofit responsible for maintaining green space across the city, including the Bog Garden, the Tanger Family Bicentennial Garden, the Greensboro Arboretum and the Gateway Gardens. “We’re focused on restoration and beautification,” Garner says. “We work to remove invasive species, encourage native plants and to restore green spaces across Greensboro.” An important program in achieving this goal is the NeighborWoods community tree planting program, which works with the community to help beautify Greensboro. “Neighbors can call and request plantings,” Garner continues. “We work with churches and community groups, and we’re in the process of planting along the MLK corridor. We want to bring green spaces to all of Greensboro, not just the wealthy areas.”
