Four miles away, downtown Greensboro offers more entertainment, between its museums, restaurants and the North Carolina Folk Festival, a free, three-day event every September. Hillsdale appeals a variety of people because of its proximity to so many entertainment options, but also because of its relative affordability and high-quality school system.

Here, locals can see events ranging from touring comedians to the Harlem Globetrotters to The Carolina Cowboys, the only professional bull riding team in the state. The outdoor White Oak Amphitheatre draws crowds for live music, and the Greensboro Aquatic Center hosts swimming competitions at the high school, collegiate and professional levels.
