Tucked into southwest Greensboro, Hilltop blends an easygoing residential feel with direct access to the Greensboro Urban Loop, giving residents a quick way to travel around the city. Even though the urban loop is close by, heavy tree thickets buffer the homes from the noise of cars driving down the highway. Homebuyers are drawn to the area's transportation convenience, parks and well-regarded Guilford County Schools campuses.
Hilltop has a mix of single-family homes and condominiums. Ranch-style homes and minimal traditional houses define the single-family options, which often come with tree-shaded measuring around half an acre. Prices vary from the lower $200,000s to the upper $300,000. The HighGate condo community on the northwest corner of the neighborhood includes more than 100 units, many of which include gas fireplaces and patios or balconies. Condos usually sell from the mid- to upper $100,000s.
Three miles from Hilltop, Hester Park's stocked 6-acre lake has four fishing piers where anglers cast lines hoping to hook bass or catfish. A roughly mile-long trail circles the water, and fitness stations dot the areas off the trail. A sand volleyball court and about a dozen lighted tennis courts round out the park's amenities. For longer walks, runs or bike rides, head to Adams Farm, where 5 miles of trails and greenways wind through a lakeside recreation area with a playground and pickleball courts.
Hilltop's location next to a major highway is a perk, says Danielle White, a broker with Heritage Realty Co. who has sold several homes in the area. “It's just minutes from Downtown Greensboro, and it puts you right near the [Greensboro] Urban Loop, which can take you anywhere in the city.” The Greensboro Urban Loop is made up of several interstates, including Interstate 73, which runs through the neighborhood. West Gate City Boulevard puts drivers on the path to downtown, 8 miles away, and city buses make stops on the boulevard on their way downtown.

The neighborhood is part of the Guilford County Schools district, and Hilltop students can start at the highly rated Millis Road Elementary School, which gets an A-minus grade from Niche. Eventually, students advance to Ragsdale High School, which connects students with opportunities to study abroad in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Students can earn merit- and need-based scholarships to cover some of the costs.
