Lake Jeanette
Contemporary brick homes and lakefront views
The neighborhood’s 16 villages are grouped into four communities: Eastern Shores, The Point, Southern Shores and Northern Shores. All offer lakefront and inland properties with well-kept yards shaded by dense tree cover. Homes rest on wide streets without sidewalks and range from condos, townhouses and smaller ranch-style homes to spacious Modern Transitional and Colonial Revival designs. Some of the most expensive properties in the neighborhood sit in Northern Shores, where custom mansions spread out over ½ acre. These properties start at $900,000 and can top $2 million. Most homes fall between $450,000 and $900,000, though properties farthest from the lake can go for under $350,000. Condos sit at the bottom of the market, ranging from $235,000 to $335,000. All homeowners in Lake Jeanette are required to pay monthly HOA fees that can top $300.Water-based recreation and family-friendly fun at Glenn McNairy Branch Library
Outdoor amenities are central to life at Lake Jeanette. The community has 7 miles of walking trails meandering throughout the community. Homeowners have access to the private marina on Bass Chapel Road, which offers canoes, pontoon boats and paddle boards for rent. The neighborhood’s private Swim and Tennis Club caters to residents of all ages, with a main pool that has a diving board and commercial waterslides. Less than 6 miles outside the community, the 250-acre Bur-Mil Park offers a par 3 golf course with nine holes, an aquatic center and a playground. The park is adjacent to Lake Brandt, an 816-acre municipal reservoir often used for fishing, kayaking, or just taking in views of the water. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails and greenways are a short drive from Lake Jeanette, including the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway and Reedy Fork Trail. Country Park, one of the largest green spaces in northern Greensboro, and Greensboro Science Center sit side by side about 3 miles away. Angela Moran, a Realtor with United Realty Group who moved to the city 14 years ago, says Glenn McNairy Branch Library is a popular spot for families on a rainy day, “It has a big pirate ship in it that’s like 25 feet long. It’s for the kids to play on and has book nooks.”Annual holiday celebrations at Lake Jeanette Swim and Tennis Club
The Lake Jeanette Swim and Tennis Club brings residents together with fun, family-friendly events like its annual July 4th celebration, complete with live music and a pie-eating contest, and its festive Easter and Christmas celebrations. The club also regularly organizes pickleball tournaments and several community fundraisers.A connected community at Jesse Wharton Elementary
Jesse Wharton Elementary, Mendenhall Middle and Page High are the schools assigned to Lake Jeanette; however, Guilford County Schools allows school choice through a lottery system. Jesse Wharton Elementary earns an A-minus overall rating from Niche and hosts events year-round to help the community stay connected, from movie and bingo nights to book fairs and outings to the local skating rink. Mendenhall Middle receives a B and promotes student collaboration through small-group instruction. Page High gets a B-plus and offers an International Baccalaureate program. Two private schools are nearby: the A-plus-rated Greensboro Day School and Canterbury School, an unrated Episcopal school.Local flavor and friendly service at Lake Jeanette Commons
Lake Jeanette Commons sits less than 3 miles from the neighborhood. The shopping center is home to the locally owned At Elm Street Grill, known for its friendly service and eclectic menu. Moran says residents also head about 5 miles north into Summerfield to dine at Luigi's Restaurant Bar & Pizzeria. “My friends who’ve been to Italy say it's very close to authentic Italian. Next to it is Village Beverage, a little watering hole. They do live music and community events,” she says. Harris Teeter is one of several grocery stores in the area. It’s in North Elm Village, a sprawling outdoor mall with a mix of restaurants and shops. Retail giants like Walmart Supercenter, Big Lots and Lowe’s Outlet line Battleground Avenue.Quick access to I-840
Interstate 840, also called the Greensboro Urban Loop, is nearby to reach destinations around the city, including Piedmont Triad International Airport, a little over 9 miles away. Downtown Greensboro, with its vibrant dining, shopping and entertainment options, is a 7-mile drive down North Elm Street. Public transportation is not available in the neighborhood, but residents can bike along Regents Park Lane to reach the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway, which heads south into Midtown Greensboro.
