Vandalia
A mix of homes from across the 20th century
Several subdivisions comprise the community, some with HOAs and others without. What’s uniform about the neighborhood is the diversity of architectural styles. Split-levels, ranch-styles, Colonial Revivals and New Traditionals sit on shady, ¼ acre lots and gently sloping hills. The earliest builds are bungalows dating to the 1920s, while ranch-style homes and Colonial Revivals can date between the ‘60s and ‘80s. While there are some 21st-century builds, construction has slowed since the ‘90s. The average square footage for a single-family is around 1,400, below the national average of about 1,900. There aren’t many garages, though some homes have attached carports. Single-family homes typically cost between $100,000 and $300,000. Townhouses are north of Rounda Lake and south of Allen Middle School. Prices range from $100,000 to $200,000.HOA amenities, playgrounds and a water park

The Greensboro Summer Solstice Festival is a celebration of independent artists, performers and the longest day of the year. Interstate 85 bounds Vandalia to the south, stretching behind several backyards on the neighborhood's southwest corner. “The biggest factor in people deciding not to buy my listing was the noise from I-85, which was right behind the home,” Paulicelli says. “When you’re outside, you can definitely hear the traffic. Even when you’re inside, you can hear it if there’s no furniture. But after my clients brought in their furniture, they said it wasn’t a problem.” I-85 connects with Interstate 73 to the west and Interstate 840 to the east. Together, these three highways form the 40-mile Greensboro Urban Loop. Via this beltway, Piedmont Triad International Airport is roughly an 18-mile drive northwest. Interstate 40 runs just north of the neighborhood, heading west toward Winston-Salem and east toward Burlington. Greensboro Transit Agency bus routes 12 and 13 run up and down Elm-Eugene Street and Randleman Road, respectively. Both lines go as far north as the J.
