A hopeful and resilient community

Streets lined with minimalist traditional and ranch-style houses

Like most of east Portland's suburbs, Rockwood's streets are lined with Minimal Traditional and ranch-style houses built in the decades following World War II. Split-level houses from the 1970s also dot Rockwood's roads, as do the occasional condominium complexes and contemporary homes built after the 1990s. Mature Douglas fir and maple trees tower over the neighborhood's sidewalk-lined streets, while ornamental bushes and hedges planted in front of Rockwood's older houses add a pop of color to the suburban landscape. Prices range from $340,000 to $530,000 – well below the Portland Metro's median home price – with the average sale price falling around $400,000. Homes with less than 1,500 square feet go for $340,000 to $400,000, with the average price hovering around $380,000.
