Fast-growing Augusta suburb

Settled 12 miles from Augusta and 16 miles from the South Carolina border lives one of the fastest-growing areas in Georgia. Grovetown has significantly transformed from a rural village into a city with ample outdoor recreation, quiet neighborhoods, a charming dining scene and easy access to the Augusta metro area. Fort Eisenhower (formerly Fort Gordon) is a major military installation adjacent to the city’s east; veterans and military families often live in Grovetown. According to the US Census, 16.7% of Grovetown metro residents are veterans. Major Grovetown employers include GIW Industries, Serta and John Deere. Grovetown is on the rise; its population has grown nearly 20 percent since 2020, and it has over 18,000 residents in a diverse community where nearly half identify as non-white.

Seven facilities for outdoor leisure

The city runs seven facilities, including parks, trails, and community centers. The recently renovated Liberty Park, with its sports fields and community center, is popular with Grovetown residents. Goodale Park offers a tennis, basketball, athletic fields, playground, and dog park. A 2.34-mile section of the Euchee Creek Greenway Trail runs through Grovetown just off Harlem Grovetown Road. Outside the city, Gateway Park is a great place to cool off in their splash pad area or run around in the playground.

Booming new construction

Grovetown is in a buyers’ market with more homes than the demand. On average, homes sell after 65 days on the market. As of March 2024, the median home price is $306,930, which is 2% higher than the previous 12 months. For $109,000, buyers can find a manufactured home. The higher-priced homes are over 2,500 square feet and cost between $430,000 and $765,000. New constructions vary between ranch-style townhomes and single-family detached properties. Prices for these properties range from $224,900 to $679,900.

Wrightsboro Road for dining

Most Grovetown dining is located on Wrightsboro Road and north of West Robinson Ave. That includes a mix of beloved local treasures and popular national chains that vary from seafood, American, Mexican, and fast food cuisines. Folks can get their necessities at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Wrightsboro Road. For big box and national retail shopping, the Augusta Mall, 10 miles away, offers over 100 stores and restaurants, including Lululemon, JCPenney, Macy’s and Dillard’s. A new shopping center could be coming forth along Columbia Road. The proposed center is a four-building retail development that includes restaurants, retail and a new grocery store.

Grovetown seasonal gatherings

Seasonal and holiday events keep Grovetown residents engaged with one another. Spring Fest launches the season with food, vendors, and an Easter Egg Hunt in Liberty Park. The Christmas Festival and Cruisin’ for Christmas Car Show are also popular. Residents can also participate in the festivals held in Downtown Augusta, the biggest of which is the Annual Arts in the Heart Festival. People gather along four blocks of downtown to celebrate the city’s diversity and culture through art and cuisines from 20 countries. April is a busy month in Augusta as some of the best golfers in the world compete in the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club. Residents can covet tickets to the competition 15 miles away.

Columbia County Schools for education

Grovetown students are primarily served through the Columbia County School System. With 28,000 students, the district is rated an A on Niche and is ranked in the top 20 districts of the state. Students will likely attend school at Grovetown Elementary, Grovetown Middle and Grovetown High. Grovetown Elementary is a newer building in the district that opened in 2017. After grade school, students can continue their studies locally at one of the many colleges and universities, including Augusta Technical College, Augusta University and Strayer University.

Major roadways and Columbia County Transit

Folks will need a car to get around Grovetown. Major roadways include Interstate 20 (Carl Sanders Highway) and Gordon Highway. These routes provide access to Augusta. Interstate 20 is also the primary route to Atlanta, 134 miles west. Many roadways are under construction, often leading to bumper-to-bumper traffic during peak times. Columbia County provides a “Curb to Curb” service, where a driver picks up and drops off individuals at a designated location. Those traveling outside the Augusta metro area can use Augusta Regional Airport, 17 miles away. This small airport offers direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, and Washington, D.C.

Multiple crime fighting initiatives

Grovetown's CAP Index crime score is 4 out of 10, which is on par with the national average. The Grovetown Police Department supports public safety through house watches, concentrated patrols, officer ride-alongs, neighborhood watch programs and safe parking lots for child custody exchanges and online transactions.
