Where Three Cultures Flourish

Though Guadalupe was officially incorporated in 1975, the small town's rich history dates back to when it was founded by the Pascua Yaqui Indians in 1904. Guadalupe's motto of "Where Three Cultures Flourish" is a nod to the Indian, Mexican-American and farming roots of the community, and that sense of self-identity continues to be displayed through yearly cultural events and preservation of the town's history.

Affordability near Tempe

Guadalupe is mainly a residential community with housing options that include single-family homes and apartments. Houses in the area usually have two or more bedrooms, and though many were built between the 1970s and 1990s, they have undergone interior renovations to include fresh paint and new flooring. Wide driveways make space for multiple cars, and some homes come equipped with RV gates as well. Spacious backyards allow for a day spent sunbathing or taking a dip in the pool on those hot summer days. You'll also find that many homes have fenced front yards. Home prices in this area are often lower than the Arizona average, with the exception of a few homes that have reached up to the mid $500,000 range.

Schools and community engagement

The adobe-styled building of Frank Elementary School has had its door open for students since 1929. Part of the Tempe Elementary School District, Frank Elementary is a technology-based school that gives each student either an iPad or Chromebook to assist in learning. After that, students might attend Fees College Prep Middle School, which has a C Niche grade and Marcos De Niza High School afterward, which has a B Niche grade. Students who need before or after-school care can go to the Boys & Girls Club, where they can take part in the many sports, education or arts programs. Students can learn how to manage finances early with the AZYouthForce program, which offers paid internships in various career fields. The Boys & Girls Club also offers youth soccer, basketball, and flag football for outdoor recreation. Young baseball enthusiasts can join the Tempe Guadalupe Little League team for their Spring season at Stottlemyre Field. Students and adults can check out bestsellers, literary classics, or documents regarding Guadalupe's history from the Guadalupe Library, which also has a steady slate of clubs for people of all ages. More information on town history or history about the Pascua Yaqui can be found at the tribal headquarters just minutes away. The Yaqui community celebrates their heritage each year during the Lent and Easter celebrations that are open to the public.
