Rural living with proximity to Huntsville and outdoor recreation
Gurley is a small close-knit community 16 miles east of Huntsville. “The area is very quiet and just about everyone knows each other,” says Kimberly Powell, a Broker/Owner for Powell Realty Co, Inc. Powell has lived in the north Alabama region and has been in the real estate business for over three decades. “When I moved here, I really liked the community, and that’s why I stayed,” says Powell. “It is an old, rural town with a good mixture of recreational opportunities like hiking and kayaking.” Moss Lumber Industries is a lumber mill that brings in many employees from the area. Homeowners also enjoy proximity to the region’s many lakes and rivers as well as Cathedral Caverns State Park, a state-wide attraction marked by its striking 25ft-high entrance
