Rural living between Baton Rouge and New Orleans
Hahnville is a rural community with an agricultural and residential landscape twenty miles west of downtown New Orleans. “It’s close to the city but has a more rural setting,” says Hahnville Fire Chief Matthew Allshouse. “It has direct access to the interstate system, so it’s easy to get to Baton Rouge out west and New Orleans and the coast to the east.” With a median lot size of about a quarter-acre, homes in the area offer a little more space than those in nearby New Orleans. Despite its spacious setting, the area holds a few amenities, offering residents a local restaurant and a riverside trail for outdoor living.

Driving is a must, but Interstate 310 is easy to access
The area’s streets can get relatively narrow, and many lack sidewalks, so walkers or bikers may have a tough time traveling. Being distant from the city provides a quiet setting, but it means city transit is non-existent, and having a car is vital for getting around in Hahnville. For drivers, though, interstate 310 is easily reached and travels through New Orleans, making the city easy to access.
