Halfmoon Township is a rural community with single-family homes on large lots in the Appalachian Mountains area of Halfmoon Valley. Unlike neighboring towns with iron and limestone mining industries, Halfmoon has long been a major exporter of agricultural goods. Comprised of farmland and clusters of houses, the town exudes small-town charm just 10 miles from the State College metro area. “It falls in line with other townships in the area, but it’s definitely more suburban,” says Samantha Hassinger, a Realtor with RE/MAX Centre Realty, who’s been selling area homes for two years.
Between housing developments in Halfmoon you'll find many small farms.
Many students find themselves heading to Halfmoon from State College for farm markets.

Split-level homes starting in the $350,000s
Homebuyers can find split-level homes from the late 1900s and contemporary-style houses from the 2000s. Homes are clustered in suburban subdivisions with lot sizes averaging about an acre and extending up to 15 acres. Houses feature long driveways and usually come with attached garages. Properties here tend to stay on the market for about three weeks and range from $350,000 to $650,000. The CAP Index gives Halfmoon Township a crime score of 1 out of 10, which is lower than the national average of 4.
Older split level homes are most commonly found near Stormsburg in Halfmoon.

Less than 10 miles from State College
Halfmoon Township is car dependent. Halfmoon Valley Road is the main route in and out of town, quickly connecting residents to State College. “Depending on your location in the township, State College might be just 15 or 20 minutes away,” says Hassinger. The Mount Nittany Medical Center is the closest hospital, which is located 10 miles east. The closest airport is State College Regional, also just 10 miles east.
Halfmoon is not far from I-99, with easy access to State College and I-80 for longer trips.
