Small-town feel just 6 miles from downtown Allentown

Tucked away in the heart of Lehigh Valley is Hanover — a small township stationed just 6 miles outside of downtown Allentown. In proximity to excellent schools and public parks, Hanover offers a small-town feel and a strong community connection among its residents. "It's a very family-oriented type of place," says local Realtor Tim Getz of Re/Max Real Estate, who lives in Hanover and has been selling homes for 20 years. "It's super convenient, smack-dab in the middle of Lehigh Valley. It's a minute away from two major highways and it's close to shopping. It's just a well-run municipality with a great community, great homes and great schools."

Easy access to Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York

Hanover locals have excellent road and highway access with the Lehigh Valley Thruway cutting across the township. Residents also neighbor Lehigh Valley International Airport, which is stationed on Hanover's westside. "The Lehigh Valley area is one of the hottest markets in the entire country because of our proximity to Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York," Getz says. "We can get to the Pocono Mountains in 20 or 30 minutes, we can get to the Appalachian Trail in 20 or 30 minutes, we have a lot of skiing and hiking and rivers. It's just extremely popular."

Shopping and dining at nearby Lehigh Valley Mall

Hanover locals don't need to travel far to pick up groceries. Wegmans is stationed in the heart of the township off Stoke Park Road while residents also pick up daily essentials from Weis Markets off Crawford Drive. Sitting just 6 miles west is Lehigh Valley Mall, which offers dozens of boutiques, retail shops and restaurants. For a meal out with the family, Hanover Eatery is the place to go. Open since 2013, the neighborhood restaurant serves breakfast all day and offers a menu perfectly suited for Sunday brunch. Hanoverville Road House is another can't-miss — especially for history buffs. Operating in a nearly 200-year-old building that formerly served as a stagecoach stop, the restaurant has a historic feel and offers American comfort foods from burgers and fries to chicken wings and ribs.

The community playground is an excellent place to meet for a friendly play date while its basketball courts draw sports lovers from across the township. The park is a stone's throw from the Hanover Township Community Center, which contains a fitness center and gymnasium. The community center's public pool is a hot spot during the humid Pennsylvania summers while the annual Hanover Days Carnival — a yearly celebration featuring carnival rides, food and live entertainment — serves as a fun event for residents. "The community center, every day, they have all kinds of stuff going on," Getz says. "It's a popular place to be in the community because there's so much that they offer."
