Kamper Park is a landmark in Kamper-Avenues, known as an entertainment and recreation destination since the early 1900s. The 40-acre outdoor park contains Hattiesburg Zoo, home to over 100 animal species. The area has a petting zoo, a ropes course and educational programs. Outside the zoo, on the southern end, is a playground and basketball courts. There are also recently renovated tennis courts and new pickleball courts. Woodley Elementary ranks as the No. 6 elementary in the county and earns a B grade from Niche. Older students attend N.R. Burger Middle and Hattiesburg High, which provides CTE courses and a Middle College program. The middle and high schools have C-plus grades from Niche. The Hattiesburg area has over 150 houses of worship, including Hardy Street Baptist Church, located within the neighborhood. The local synagogue, Temple B’nai Israel, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. Forrest General Hospital stands a mile away, on the opposite side of U.S. 49. Bus routes are available on Hardy Street and Broadway Drive. The Hattiesburg Amtrak Station is less than 3 miles away downtown.
