Oak Grove
Living away from the bustle of the city
Locals greet each other along Oak Grove's residential streets while enjoying time outside. "People walk, jog and ride their ATV and golf carts in the community," Magee says. "The landscaping is great, and outdoor life is always going to be a big deal." The area has a mix of ranch-style from the second half of the 20th century and more recent homes featuring new traditional styles. Common exteriors include brick veneers or board and batten siding. The Legacy development has a nostalgic feel with white picket fences and a central town hall building. More recent homes feature new traditional styles. Typically, 20th-century ranch-styles list between $200,000 and $340,000, while custom builds from the 1990s to 2010s can cost between $245,000 and $340,000. Homes built over the last five years generally enter the market from $300,000 to $375,000. As a part of a tornado-prone region, Oak Grove has a moderate risk of flooding and wind damage, which can impact insurance rates.Students attend A schools in Lamar County
Oak Grove Primary School, also known as Oak Grove Elementary School, has an A-minus on Niche. Oak Grove Middle also has an A-minus. Oak Grove High Students and alums gather for high school football games on Friday nights. The school, earning an A, offers Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses. "They are offering associate degrees, so your students can skip junior college completely," Magee says. Teens interested in CTE courses may choose between Law and Public Safety, Culinary Arts, Nursing or JROTC. "They say it's private school education but public," Magee says. "So, your kids can go to any school in Lamar County; they are all phenomenal schools."

Old Highway 11 bisects the community, leading to Purvis and Lumberton to the south and US Highway 98 to the north. Commuters must drive about 6 miles to reach the nearest Interstate 59 interchange.Sweet treats and shopping to the north

She also says locals can head to the biweekly Thomley's Farmer Market for fresh fruits and vegetables during the spring and summer. "People also have yard sales every first Saturday of the month.
