In the shadow of Palm Beach International Airport, flanked by industrial buildings, is the suburban neighborhood of Royal Palm Estates. “This is a blue-collar area, and it’s in demand because of the convenience of Southern Boulevard, halfway between the turnpike and I-95,” says Yanil Espinal, a Realtor with Treasure Property Group LLC. “It’s just 10 minutes from the beaches, too.” In the eastern part of the neighborhood, close to the airport, there are large storage facilities. The western part of the neighborhood has a Home Depot Distribution Center and a window installation company factory.
Mounts Botanical Garden a neighborhood staple
Mounts Botanical Garden has been a mainstay in the neighborhood for over 40 years. Along the winding, shaded paths are over 7,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants, such as roses, cacti and fruit trees. November through June is the prime time for the garden space to be used as a wedding venue. Dogs are welcome to walk in the garden on the second Sunday of each month. Owners are advised to bring water, treats and doggie disposal bags. While smaller than the botanical garden, Haverhill Park has plenty of space for recreation, providing plenty of parking spaces close to basketball, tennis and pickleball courts and a playground. A walking trail has periodic exercise stations to make sure an entire workout can happen. Caroline Park has a small playground and one basketball goal.

Mainly old homes in Royal Palm Estates
Most of the housing developments in Royal Palm Estates were built in the 1960s and ‘70s, with pockets of homes that were built in the late 2010s. Most architectural styles are colorful Florida ranch-style, and some with Spanish-style roofs that are common in Florida. Single-family homes and duplexes are priced between $350,000 and $600,000. While location within the neighborhood will depend on which elementary school children attend, those attending Palm Beach County schools can go to Wynnebrook Elementary School, with a B-plus grade on Niche. Jaega Middle students can take pre-culinary and pre-law classes as exploratory options. The school has a C overall grade. Royal Palm Beach High School has a 94% graduation rate and a B overall Niche grade. Private school options include Haverhill Baptist Day School, which is part of the Haverhill Community Church and teaches preschool through third grade.

Burgers are their specialty; the secrets to the rich flavor are the spices and the sauce. There’s no seating inside and limited table seating. They’re open Wednesday through Saturday only. Don Café is a Latin fast food spot open 24/7 and covers a wide delivery area. Their menu includes Dominican, Cuban, and Mexican dishes. Walmart Supercenter is close to the airport and is a close drive for residents in Royal Palm Estates. La Tapatia is a Mexican-based supermarket located on Southern Boulevard.

Palm Tran bus service
The main roads of Southern Boulevard, Military Trail and Belvedere Street are popular stops for the Palm Tran bus service. Most buses have bicycle racks on the front that can hold two bikes. All buses are equipped with Wi-Fi service. It’s 7 miles to the Palm Beach Island beaches and the same distance to catch the Tri-Rail commuter train at the West Palm Beach station.
