A charming historic village not far from the big city
Known as the “Historic Crossroads of Ohio,” the village of Hebron was established in 1827 and was an important link in the Ohio Canal System. Since then, the neighborhood has gone through many phases but is now experiencing prosperity through economic stability, the addition of natural parks and nearby commerce areas, and its historic roots. “There is a lot of new development in the neighborhood,” says Carma Godby, an agent with NextHome Experience, who has 15 years of experience in the Columbus metro area. “This is bringing new people into the community.”
The homes off National Road Southeast
The main line of the community, National Road Southeast, runs through the center of downtown Hebron and leads to residential streets where homes can be found, some with modest sidewalks to pair. Farmhouse and ranch-style homes built throughout the 21st century are located near the heart of downtown, while modern Craftsman-style homes built within the last five years are found further out from the historic center. Those looking to purchase a home in the neighborhood can expect a price range from $170,000 for older three-bedroom houses to $371,000 for recently constructed four-bedroom homes.

Ice skating on Buckeye Lake
In 1976, Hebron saw the addition of Canal Park, where residents can take advantage of its on-site softball fields, picnic shelters and playgrounds. “What makes this community special is that it is adjacent to Buckeye Lake,” Explains Gosby. A short 6-mile drive along Canal Road leads to Buckeye Lake State Park, the oldest in Ohio. The main attraction is the lake that spans 3,100 acres, which serves as the park's backdrop. Visitors can choose from several recreational activities, including fishing, swimming, picnicking and even ice skating during winter months.
College prep at Lakewood High School
Sitting just 3 miles east of the neighborhood is a collection of schools where students can begin their educational careers. Starting out, students will head to Jackson Intermediate School, which has earned a C-plus on Niche and hosts a Pre-K program. Older students will attend Lakewood Middle School, which has earned a C from Niche, before heading to Lakewood High School next door. The high school is a part of Ohio’s College Credit Plus program, where students can earn college credit.

Pig racing at The Van Buren Acres
During autumn, locals flock to The Van Buren Acres, a 5.8-mile trip west of the neighborhood off of Keller Road. The family-owned farm hosts a pumpkin patch, pig races and hay wagon rides to get visitors in the fall spirit. The joy of Christmas can be found at the National Trail Raceway, a 2.5-mile drive off National Road Southwest, where guests can enjoy a drive-thru light show.

Commuting from Hebron
I-70 West provides residents with a 30.5-mile drive into downtown Columbus and a 29.5-mile drive to John Glenn Columbus International Airport. As there are no public transportation opportunities in Hebron, residents need a car to reach daily amenities in and around the neighborhood.
