North Central is a Helena suburb that’s close to the highway, shopping centers and a golf course. “You’d move there for the shopping. There’s a plethora of things to do out there,” says Laurie Koutnik, a Broker/owner with Capital City Realty. Subdivisions, sidewalks and mobile homes
North Central’s streets are laid out in a grid, with a few cul-de-sacs and dead ends mixed into the lush streetscape of neatly trimmed lawns and clean sidewalks. Houses closer to the Bill Roberts Golf Course tend to go for between $600,000 and $900,000. Townhomes with tidy lawns sell at the lower end of this price range, and shingle-roofed cottages and shed-roofed modern-style homes sit at the top, mostly in the Cloverview Estates subdivision that overlooks the golf course. Houses that sell around the median price tend to be ranch homes, split-levels and brick bungalows. There is also a subdivision in the northernmost part of the neighborhood with suburban-style homes that have a variety of stylistic elements, often mixing craftsmen, colonial and ranch styles together, where houses sell for between $400,000 to $550,000. There is also a mobile home park in North Central, where units tend to sell for between $80,000 and $120,000.

From the driving range to the mountaintop
Golfers couldn’t pick a more convenient neighborhood than North Central. The Bill Roberts Golf Course is within walking distance from many homes in the neighborhood, and Cloverview Estate residents practically live on the course. If the driving range feels too tame, Mount Helena is about two miles away. The trails climb up the mountainside and lead to the peak and Devil’s Kitchen, a cave entrance of blackened, scorched-looking rock along the popular 1906 trail.
