Well-planned sanctuary with upscale club and mountain nature trails

“Living in Madeira Canyon,” says John Diaz, Realtor and Team Owner of the Diaz Luxe Group with Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who lived in Madeira Canyon for eight years, “you’re tucked away, surrounded by mountains and so off the beaten path that you don’t venture out there if you don’t live there. It’s so quiet and serene.” Resting on elevated terrain that backs to Black Mountain and the Sloan National Conservation Area, the neighborhood is fully built out and includes two gated communities. Curving streets encircle a city park that’s loaded with recreation options, and the neighborhood is bordered by miles of trails. Neighbors take long walks around the community or into the hills. From the heart of this scenic and sequestered community, shopping and dining options are just 2 miles north. Residents can easily connect with Interstates 215 and 15 to reach the Las Vegas Strip and Harry Reid International Airport.

Gated and nongated options

Madeira Canyon is designed to blend into its natural surroundings, using water-smart landscaping. Neat sidewalks lined with palms, desert-hardy shrubs and pebbles connect this bikeable, walkable neighborhood. Within its master plan, Videiras is a guard-gated enclave of less than 100 homes, most with private swimming pools, ranging from $800,000 to $1.25 million based on number of bedrooms and proximity to the protected natural areas. Homes in the guard-gated Club at Madeira, also known as “The Club” or “Club M,” enjoy a mountain and canyon backdrop and generally fetch between $900,000 and $1.3 million. This active adult community with roaming security is comprised of 546 homes, all with exclusive privileges at the community clubhouse. “From the Club at Madeira clubhouse,” adds Diaz, who’s been selling in the area since 2017, “you get unbelievable, unobstructed views of the valley and the Strip. At nighttime, it’s exquisite.” Homes throughout the rest of Madeira Canyon, some of which are considered part of the Anthem area, can range from $550,000 to $700,000 based on size and number of bedrooms.

Madeira Canyon Park, private clubhouse, miles of trails

“You’re also right by the best park in Henderson if you ask me,” says Diaz. “Madeira Canyon Park is city-owned, so all residents can use it, and it’s on top of a mountain, giving you a great view of the Strip.” Resident athletes take advantage of the multiple lighted baseball fields and tennis courts. Kids play on the shade-covered playset and splash pad. Less than a mile from the park, bicyclists and dog-walkers hop on the paved Nevada Power Trail. “Black Mountain Trail,” says Diaz, “leads to an awesome peak. And it’s so hilly that there’s not going to be any building there because of the terrain. You can go out into the mountains any time, bring your dogs, and there’s a notebook at the top of the mountain in a metal box like an old-school lunchbox. When people get up there, they write in the notebook.”

The Madeira Canyon Clubhouse in Club M is also situated up on a hill to capture amazing views. This large, exclusive facility includes a community library, state-of-the-art fitness center, massage room and catering kitchen inside. Outside, Club M residents have access to parks, trails, sports courts and a resort-style community pool. “We also have monthly events and our pickleball courts are really popular,” says Candy Cortes, general manager at the Club at Madeira Canyon.

Anthem Highlands plaza for shopping and dining

The Anthem Highlands Shopping Center sits 2 miles north of Madeira Canyon Park. It’s the hub for pick-me-ups at Starbucks or New Day Café, grocery shopping at Albertsons or casual dinner at China Tango. For some entertainment while eating, gaming machines at PT’s Gold and Rounders Bicentennial offer a taste of Las Vegas. When locals are looking for date nights beyond the Anthem Highlands Shopping Center, says Diaz, “People go down Eastern Avenue. I call it Restaurant Row. It’s this 2-mile strip where you can find every type of cuisine, and it’s within a 10-minute drive. Also, you can go about 7 miles north to Rose Parkway, and there’s this cool place called Nacho Daddy. They have everything from Asian-style nachos to Indian curry nachos, and it’s a really cool vibe. Plus, it’s a local business that started right here.” Despite all the options in downtown Vegas and The Strip, many residents choose to stick around their own neighborhood. “Vegas is known for lights and noise,” says Diaz, “and in Madeira Canyon, you have so much peace — but you’re still within arm’s reach of The Strip. Locals might head into the Strip once a year, for an anniversary or birthday, or now for big sporting events. But people who live here mostly stay local. Eastern Avenue can supply all your needs.”

Liberty High football champs, B-plus schools

Public schools are within the Clark County School District, given a B on Niche. All three schools in the Madeira Canyon pipeline earn a Niche B-plus. Kids start at Shirley and Bill Wallin Elementary, which is walkable in the neighborhood, and head to Del E. Webb Middle. High schoolers go to Liberty, which Diaz says is known to have one of the top high school football programs in the nation. “It’s not only the unique terrain that draws people here,” says Diaz. “It’s also these great schools. The elementary isn’t private, but it has high standards like you’d expect from a private school and fantastic teachers. And when you live where the schools are this good, the odds of your home maintaining its value are also really good.”

Close to the 15 and Henderson Executive Airport

Residents can connect with Interstate 215 within a 9-mile drive from central Madiera Canyon and travel another 9 miles or so to reach the Las Vegas Strip via Interstate 15, for a total commute of around 30 to 45 minutes. From Madeira Canyon Park, Harry Reid International Airport is within a 14-mile drive north. The private Henderson Executive Airport is only about 6 miles northwest. “People love to see private jets or hobbyists,” says Diaz, “coming in and out of Henderson airport. It’s fun.” The new West Henderson Hospital, scheduled to open in late 2024 on Raiders Way, is about a mile or so from Henderson Executive Airport.

Holiday gatherings, clubhouse Spring Fling and potlucks

Some of the most cherished events in Madeira Canyon are holiday gatherings in the parks for the Fourth of July, Christmas and Easter. Neighbors also gather at the Club M clubhouse for an annual Spring Fling every March, outdoor movie nights in summer and fall potlucks.
