A quiet city just outside Sharon
Hermitage is a small suburban neighborhood on the outskirts of the City of Sharon in Mercer County. This little town is home to the nation’s only free public golf course and Kraynak’s, a family-owned store with world-renowned holiday decoration displays. Hermitage students receive an excellent education at the highest-ranking public schools in Mercer County. While Hermitage residents enjoy a quieter lifestyle, state highways make it easy for commuters to work in nearby major cities.

Large shaded yards and spacious single-family homes
Colonial and ranch-style homes built between the 1960s and 1990s sit on half-acre green lawns in the residential boroughs off East State Street. Backyards shaded by tall trees feature patios and wooden decks, perfect for hosting neighborhood cookouts. Residents have ample parking space with wide streets, long driveways and attached garages. Most homes in these quiet residential boroughs list between $100,000 and $250,000. Similarly priced condos in small cul-de-sac communities were built in the early 2000s and feature three to four bedrooms. Spacious Victorian and Tudor homes built in the 1990s are settled on multi-acre properties in the more rural parts of Hermitage. These luxurious homes have five or more bedrooms and cost around $500,000.

Holiday displays at historic Kraynak’s
Locals head to Hermitage Towne Plaza to find the local GiantEagle Supermarket and TJ Maxx. Kraynak’s is a family-owned general store with toys and trinkets, but they are best known for their spectacular holiday decoration displays. Since 1949, “Families from around the country wait in long lines to visit Kraynak’s Easter Bunny Lane and Christmas Land” says Amy Nelson, a long-time local and administrator for the Hermitage Financial Department. A variety of fast-food options and some local restaurants are located in retail strips along East State Road. Hickory Bar and Grille is a local hot spot with nostalgic décor and a traditional American pub menu.
