Lawn Acres

Pride of ownership on display
Neighborhood housing is highlighted by midcentury homes built primarily in the late 1950s. Most offer carports or attached garages, and many feature appealing landscaping. “The houses are a little bit older, but with all the new families moving in, there are a lot of renovations,” says Skinner, who recently sold one of those renovated homes. “The neighborhood is in good condition, and residents take care of their lawns.” A unique network of sidewalks, built farther from the street than usual, offers walkability. Prices typically range from the low $400,000s to the low $600,000s. The neighborhood is far enough from the Atlantic coast that flooding is not a concern. However, homes are at high risk of wind damage, especially during hurricane season, and insurance rates are likely to reflect that.
New Walmart Supercenter highlights the neighborhood's many retail options
Residents have easy access to an array of retail and dining options. A Walmart Supercenter that opened in 2023 is conveniently located in the heart of the neighborhood near its concentration of homes. Shopping centers elsewhere in the neighborhood include retail stores such as Ross Dress for Less and Burlington Clothing Store and grocers such as Aldi. Eateries are plentiful and have a decidedly Latin flair. Juici Patties in the Walmart shopping center serves up Jamaican comfort food, while the highly rated Dominican favorites at Con Hambre Restaurant are among several options along the Hollywood Boulevard commercial corridor. Miramar Bakery in neighboring Beverly Park is a popular family-owned spot known for its Cuban pastries and breakfast sandwiches.Zinkil Park is adjacent to the community
Residents don’t have to go far to stay active, as Zinkil Park is located adjacent to the neighborhood in Hollywood Hills. The green space is known for its lighted walking paths and features a pair of shaded playgrounds. Kay Gaither Community Center is located on the other side of the neighborhood in Beverly Park. The center offers indoor gathering spaces and outdoor amenities, including a lighted basketball court. An aftercare program and summer camps are provided by grants from the Children's Services Council. Residents can venture about 4 miles east to experience ArtsPark at Young Circle, a premier recreational and entertainment complex downtown anchored by an amphitheater. The city’s oceanfront, which is home to the iconic Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, is only 2 miles farther east.South Broward High is a well-rated school
The neighborhood is served by the Broward County public school system. Young students can attend nearby Orange Brook Elementary, a C-plus-rated school in Hollywood Hills. Older students can attend Olsen Middle, a C-rated school, and South Broward High, a B-plus-rated school that offers the prestigious Cambridge International course of study and features a maritime, marine science and technology program.
Hollywood Boulevard provides quick access to commuter rail, interstate
Public transportation via bus is easily accessible, as all four roads that border the neighborhood include bus stops. Memorial Regional Hospital and the adjacent Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital are less than 3 miles from the neighborhood. Hollywood Boulevard on the neighborhood’s north side provides convenient access to the commuter rail station downtown. Adjacent to the station is Interstate 95, which allows for travel to points of interest up and down the coast. Fort Lauderdale and its international airport are 8 miles north, and Miami is 20 miles south.
