A rural small town stocked with everyday necessities
Centered about 10 miles between both Concord and Manchester, Hooksett has a rural feel without sacrificing access to everyday amenities. “The draw to Hooksett is location. It’s a steppingstone between the area’s bigger cities and has good highway access for commuters,” says Real Estate Associate, Sophia Weeks with RE/MAX, who has 20 years of experience selling in Merrimack County. Hooksett is a larger town in relation to those nearby, complete with big-box shopping and proximity to both state and local parks. Interstate 93 flows along the western border, allowing residents to get into the city and retreat to a quieter home base with ease.
Local eateries, a farm stand and nearby grocers
One advantage of Hooksett’s location is proximity to big-box stores, including Walmart, Target and Market Basket, just south of the neighborhood. Local staple, Johnson Golden Harvest provides fresh, local products from a rustic farm stand. The Robie Store, situated next to the fire station and railroad, anchors the center of town, serving classic American diner food and country-market goods, like locally sourced honey and maple syrup. For a quick bite, residents can head to The Pizza Man of Hooksett, which has a sports bar atmosphere and an outdoor patio.

A river, state forest and multi-use community park
The Merrimack River, flowing through the center of Hooksett, allows for plenty of water activities, while Bear Brook State Park to the east provides miles of hiking trails. Bear Brook serves as a haven for outdoor recreation, complete with an archery course, designated paddling areas, downhill skiing slopes and off-roading. Hooksett’s main local park sits near the river at Donati Memorial Field, where kids can play on the playground or utilize the football field, baseball diamond and tennis courts. In the winter, residents often take off on sleds down the park’s hills, and during the summer months, they can catch a firework show.

Hooksett’s market consists of single-family colonials, ranch styles and Cape Cods, as well as a collection of townhouses. Prices most often fall in the $400,000 to $500,000 range, though large estates on multiple acres of land can surpass $900,000. Homebuyers may also find waterfront houses with boating docks along the Merrimack River. “Hooksett has a higher price point than other nearby neighborhoods, like Suncook to the north,” Weeks says. While some residential areas feature sidewalks, streets are often lined by modest front lawns with garages and driveways.
