Focus on lakefront living and convenient amenities

Despite being on the edge of land-locked Houston, Lakemont is true to its own and built around multiple community lakes. Waterfront views can be seen from the community’s many parks and the backyards of some of the area’s most in-demand homes. Lakemont is physically smaller than the massive master-planned neighborhoods surrounding it, like Cinco Ranch and Pecan Grove. Lakemont’s small size and lack of master planning make it easier for neighbors to get to know each other and explore their community. Living in Lakemont means having access to some of the best schools in Houston, as well as quick access to popular suburbs like Katy and Sugar Land.

New Traditional homes along Lakemont’s lakes

Lakemont mainly consists of brick and stone New Traditional homes with signature features like A-frame roofing, dormer windows and arched entryways. Wide sidewalks connect nearly every home and run alongside big front yards and gardens. One-story homes are priced between $250,000 to $350,000, while multistory homes in a similar style sell for between $350,000 and $650,000. Some of the most popular properties are built next to Lakemont’s signature man-made lakes and give homeowners a waterfront view from their backyard. “There are many lakes in the area, which makes hunting for a lakefront property real easy,” says Laree Weeks, Realtor from Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. Lakemont has a CAP Index Crime Score of 4, which aligns with the national average.

Lamar Consolidated Schools are in “hypergrowth”

Families in Lakemont can send their children to the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, which is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after school districts in the Houston area. “Lamar is rivaling Katy now in terms of education,” says Kimberly Patel, a Realtor and Team Lead for Top Key Properties Group at Coldwell Banker Realty. Patel’s own daughters attend schools in Lamar CISD. “Lamar is in hypergrowth because of the number of homes they are building in the school district, so they’ve put a lot of money and time into building schools.” Schools like H.F. McNeill Elementary School, Briscoe Junior High School and Foster High School all earn an A on Niche. Despite the district’s rapid growth, high schools like Foster are designed only to have up to 2,000 students so everyone can receive personalized attention. The closest college is Houston Community College Alief Bissonnet Campus, which is about 10 miles away.
