Hike or bike at Gus Wortham Golf Course
Gus Wortham Park Golf Course is a century-old Houston tradition that’s been renovated to include hiking and biking trails so even non-golfers will enjoy the green space. Mason Park is located along the banks of Brays Bayou, which winds through the middle of the neighborhood. The park has a community center, public pool, disc golf course, and various sports fields and courts. One of the neighborhood's treasured features is Villa de Matel Convent, the site of the architecturally significant Conventional Chapel, a commemoration labyrinth and a vast collection of sacred relics. The convent's Ruah Spirituality Center can be reserved for prayer time or retreats. Other religious sanctuaries in Lawndale-Wayside include Victory Family Church and Iglesia de Cristo Lawndale. There is quite a large variety of restaurants from fast food to regular restaurants. Although I wish there were more restaurants of other types of food, like korean or greek. There are mostly Mexican and Chinese food restaurants in my area.
