Cypress Station is a suburb just 30 minutes outside of downtown Houston that offers plenty of retail and recreation. The area is mostly car-dependent but offers easy access to Interstate 45 and State Route 8 to get you to the rest of the city. This suburban neighborhood has a traditional grid structure and cul-de-sacs with mature oak and elm trees towering over the homes. Cypress Station’s roads are lined with streetlights, and the homes here feature long driveways and occasional multi-car garages. Ranch and traditional styles from the late 20th century with up to five bedrooms are common in the area, and these single-family homes typically sell for between $250,000 to $500,000. There's also a gated community with apartments and townhomes that are available to rent.
The Spring Independent School District serves the neighborhood’s students. Kids may start at Meyer Elementary School, which has a C-minus rating from Niche, before transitioning to Wells Middle School, which also gets a C-minus. Students may finish their primary education at Dekaney High School, which also has a C-minus rating from Niche. Nearby is also the School for International Studies at Bammel, which has been operating in the Spring Independent School District since 2021, and serves Pre-kindergarten through eighth grade with classes specializing in languages from around the world.
There are several outdoor parks and attractions in the area, including Forest Oaks Park. This 60-acre park has several miles of paved walking/jogging trails, a playground, picnic pavilions and four lakes stocked with bass and catfish. The park also hosts multiple community gatherings throughout the year like fun runs, fishing tournaments and holiday events. You can also visit Lents Family Park for a water splash area, a one-and-a-half-mile-long walking trail, a playground and a picnic pavilion. Nearby is also Lents Dog Park, a large, fenced green space where you can take your four-legged friend. The park also has its own playground and picnic area. Open from May to September, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown is a popular water park just two miles north on I-45. If you’re looking for an indoor activity, the Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park and an AMC movie theater are within walking distance from the neighborhood homes.
Multiple shopping centers are just a short drive away, including the Cypresswood Court Shopping Center. For your groceries, you can stop by Target, Walmart, H-E-B and ALDI. If you need home improvement supplies, there’s a Lowe’s Home Improvement and The Home Depot. You can also find Petco, Best Buy and Office Depot. Also nearby is Cypress Pointe with a Kroger, PetSmart and a gym. If you’re looking for popular local restaurants, there are several close by like Lasagna House, a family-owned eatery that’s been serving Italian cuisine in the area since 1942. You can also try The Greasy Spoon, which offers a menu of soul food favorites, and Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen with Tex-Mex dishes.
With its wide selection of retailers, ample recreational opportunities and proximity to the rest of Houston, Cypress Station has a lot to offer in spite of its small size.
