Gulf Coast Acres is a few miles from the water

Gulf Coast Acres, in Pasco County, is located near the southern end of Florida's Nature Coast. The region is known for its undeveloped waterfront and ample recreational opportunities. "People will move or retire here because they like to be close to the water. It's right along U.S. 19, where you have businesses and chain restaurants," says Yadira Hector, an experienced Tampa Bay Realtor with HomeTrust Realty Group. "There are several ramps to boat and fish. The one on Hudson Beach goes straight to the gulf." Nearby marinas provide wet and dry boat storage as well as rentals. The area also contains industrial facilities, including manufacturers and a water treatment plant.

A Pasco County community with ranch-style houses and manufactured homes

The neighborhood's homes date between the 1970s and the 2020s. Most houses are ranch-style with attached garages. Around half of the residences entering the market are manufactured homes, and parks like Brentwood Estates and Gulf Coast Acres offer retirement-friendly communities for 55-plus residents. Manufactured homes can cost between $15,000 and $300,000. Pricing for these homes depends on the structure's build date and condition, as well as lot size. Houses can cost between $175,000 and $300,000.

Water sports and hiking in Florida's Nature Coast

In 2015, a limestone mine was transformed into the beachfront destination SunWest Park. Pasco County currently manages the artificial beach, which is situated along a 70-acre lake. There's a dedicated swimming area and a water obstacle course with large inflatables. The Aripeka Sandhills Preserve is 5 miles from the neighborhood. The wetland conservation area has 2 miles of hiking paths winding through hardwood swamplands. Locals suggest that visitors download the trail map before venturing on the path. Hudson Beach, officially known as Robert J. Strickland Memorial Park, offers 6 miles of accessible coastline for swimming and shoreline fishing. There is also a launch for kayaks and motorboats. Hector says locals drive 12 miles to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. "People can kayak from there to reach the gulf; they also have a little water park called Buccaneer Bay," Hector says.

Hudson Primary Academy serves kindergarten to third grade; the school has a B-minus rating on Niche. Children in fourth to eighth grade attend the C-rated Hudson Academy. Hudson High receives a B-minus. The school offers programs for digital design, veterinary technology and agricultural science. The three schools sit in adjacent buildings about 3 miles from Gulf Coast Acres. Families can apply for out-of-zone schools on the Pasco County Schools website.

Live music at the SunWest Crab & Shrimp Festival

SunWest Crab & Shrimp Festival is a weekend event that started a decade ago. Local restaurants provide fresh seafood while artists and tribute bands play live music on a central stage. The festival hosts several family-friendly activities at SunWest Park, including crab racing.

Hudson Grill, off Denton Avenue, serves a range of menu items, from fried grilled cheese and seafood risotto to chicken schnitzel. Further down the highway is Winn Dixie. Fairway Oaks Plaza, about 3 miles away, contains a Publix Super Market. Locals are also 5 miles from favorite local establishments like Sam's Beach Bar and Hudson Beach Ice Cream Parlor.

Weather history in the Tampa Bay region

The western side of the community has a higher risk of flooding than the eastern corridor. However, the region has a history of tropical storms and hurricanes, which can lead to flooding and property damage. In 2024, hurricanes Helene and Milton significantly impacted the Tampa Bay area.
