Mountain magic
In South Outer Reno, the mountain life takes center stage. According to Kristen Gil from Dickson Realty, Inc., there’s a lot this neighborhood has to offer in the way of nature, and it shapes the whole community. “There’s the snow and the lake. There’s the Diamond Peak ski resort. There’s golf. It’s a very small community. They have multi-million-dollar houses on the water. It’s busier in the summertime because a lot of people don’t like to deal with the snow. They live there in the summer and do what we call ‘ski leases,’ leasing their homes out to skiers for the whole winter.” Whether it’s skiing, relaxing by the lake, or enjoying a meal from any of several local restaurants, this corner of Nevada has something for every leisurely moment.
A delight to all the senses
Mt. Rose and Lake Tahoe draw many visitors each year for their skiing and snowboarding resorts. At Idlewild Park, the Sensory Garden offers garden grandeur themed to please all five of the senses. Visitors can see, smell, hear, touch and taste the offerings of the garden’s planter beds. Kids of all ages can enjoy the large structures at the Reno Arch Lions Den playground. Golfers can make a 32-mile drive to Somersett Golf & Country Club to hit the ranges.

The neighborhood has many modern homes, frequently single- and two-story homes with multi-car garages. There are also Craftsmans with terra cotta roofs and homes with distinct A-frames that show Tudor-like influences. These homes are often nestled right in the forest, among the Jeffrey pines, white firs and cedars native to the area. Homes in this area can range from $845,000 on the lower end to $4.4 million.

Curry, candy and craft
Lupitas and Buenas Grill serve authentic and affordable Mexican food. Thai Recipe offers an array of traditional Thai dishes like curries, noodles and more. Residents can also visit Inclined Burgers and Brews or T’s Mesquite Rotisserie for burgers and barbecue. Grocery shopping can be done at Grocery Outlet, the local market or Raley’s, which is closer to the Reno area. Some residents will even make longer drives to get groceries. “A lot of residents in Incline Village will drive down to Reno for the bigger shopping places like Costco, because there’s not a lot of shopping in that area,” Gil says. Bowl Incline has been a Lake Tahoe staple for over five decades, not only being a bowling alley but also a place for family fun and business gatherings alike. With its outdoor patio, craft food and drinks and numerous activities, residents can hold events and make great memories. A visit to the Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory will indulge customers in treats like award-winning peanut brittle and chocolates made from simple ingredients.
