Indianapolis' Augusta neighborhood offers parks and diverse dining
Careful not to be confused with Augusta, Georgia, the Augusta of Indianapolis is close to one of Indianapolis' best parks, Eagle Creek, and the very good ethnic restaurants of Michigan Road.
Neighborhood has homes mostly from the 1980s to 2000s
Houses in the diverse neighborhood of Augusta are a mixture of ranch-style and New Traditional homes. Most houses were built in the 1980s and 1990s with newer subdivisions built in the early 2000s. The sprawling streets of Augusta feature sidewalks, making the neighborhood walkable. The median price for homes in Augusta is $247,000.
Recreation includes fishing, canoeing, sports and sun bathing
Residents of Augusta benefit from being less than 15 minutes from Eagle Creek Park, the largest park in Indianapolis. One of the more popular parks in Indianapolis, residents can enjoy the beauty of its natural landscape and sun-kissed waters. Hoosiers sail, fish and canoe down its reservoir. There is also a beach, where visitors can lay out in the sun, dip their toes in the water or go for a swim. With a loaded snack bar, visitors have everything they need for a fun time. Residents can enjoy the park’s six trails. Spanning sixteen miles, they are perfect for a leisurely stroll. Golfers can enjoy the Eagle Creek Golf Club‘s 36-hole golf course. Dog owners can bring their four-legged friends to Bark Park.
At the southwest border of Augusta is Northwestway Park. The park includes a field, basketball courts and a disc golf course. There is a pavilion with grills for a nice BBQ. The field is large enough for a game of football, soccer, or frisbee. The park's trails lead to a forest path. Eagle Creek Little League calls Northwestway Park home. Head to one of the park's seven playing fields to support the boys and girls of the neighborhood. When the summer heat arrives, the Northwestway Aquatic Center features a splash park, pool and slide for endless fun.
Dining scene serves Southeast Asian, Caribbean and Hispanic cuisines
Michigan Road is the go-to for great cuisine. What The Ph? serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine. For dinner, there is the Pho Special, which includes beef and meatballs. The Vietnamese Pancake is stuffed with shrimp, pork, bean sprouts and onion. It is also served with fish sauce. For authentic Salvadorian cuisine, try Pupuseria Casa Maria. Their appetizing Salvadorian Breakfast is packed with eggs, fried plantains, refried beans, cheese and sour cream. The pupusas are stuffed with loroco with cheese, beans, cheese and pork. The family-owned and operated Jiallo's African Caribbean Cuisine serves authentic Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine. From staples like jerk chicken, jerk beef and oxtails, residents appreciate the quality of their food. After sitting down at Super Tacos, the name begins to make sense. These tacos are stuffed with flavor, meat and veggies. Of course, there standard steak, chicken and pork tacos, but the real deal is their Mexican Sausage Taco and Tacos Hawaianos.
