Indianapolis suburb immersed in nature
Home to one of the largest city parks in the United States, Eagle Creek is a northwest Indianapolis neighborhood with some of the city's most diverse and expansive natural areas. The Eagle Creek Reservoir cuts through the center of the neighborhood as part of Eagle Creek Park. At 4,766 acres, the park is one of this neighborhood's big appeals, with a network of hiking trails and calm waters for swimming, boating and fishing. "If someone wants to be closer to nature, Eagle Creek is a good area to live in because otherwise, it's mostly farmland nearby," says Jerry Hanna, a Broker with Highgarden Real Estate. Bordered by I-65 to the north, Eagle Creek is well connected to downtown Indianapolis, just 11 miles away.

The park has a network of trails ranging from 1 and a quarter miles to nearly 7 miles. The Eagle Creek Golf Club has two public courses set against the park's wetlands and animal habitats.
In the wintertime, locals enjoy cross-country skiing, while in the warmer months, they can swim, canoe, kayak, sail, row or fish on the reservoir. The Indianapolis Rowing Center offers youth, adult and adaptive rowing classes. Personal boats are capped at ten horsepower and 26 feet, lending to relatively calm waters. "I kayak-fish, so I prefer going to Eagle Creek because we don't have to deal with the bigger boats," Hanna says.
