Parks offer playgrounds and wildlife viewing
For recreation, residents are about a 17-minute drive from Southeastway Park. The 188-acre park features a paved bike path, an 80-acre forest and access to Buck Creek. The biggest draw of this park is its landscape, which ranges from flood plains to prairies. As visitors roam through the park, they'll encounter bluebirds, orioles and Canada geese. The 1.5-mile Creekside Trail gives access to Buck Creek. In the spring and summer, visitors may immerse themselves in the beauty of the wildflowers that bloom throughout the park. For little ones, there are two playgrounds. The smaller playground includes a jungle gym with slides and monkey bar rings. The much larger playground is where the excitement begins. From swings to climbing nets and several towers that include slides, kids are free to go where their imagination takes them. Every year in August, the park hosts Bug Fest, which celebrates the importance of bugs and insects in Indiana. There, residents learn more about the little critters they share a home with.
