Quiet community on the edge of downtown Pittsburgh
Ingram is a West Pennsylvania borough perched on the edge of downtown Pittsburgh that combines the best of suburbia and city living. “It’s quaint and suburban, but it has that city feel because you're close to downtown," says Sara Leitera, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway, The Preferred Realty and West Pennsylvania native. "It's got a great mix of young professionals and folks who have lived there a long time, too."
Ingram sprawls along Ingram Avenue on up the hill to Middletown Road.

American Foursquare and Stick-style homes line Ingram's streets
Ingram’s network of residential streets sits on the Pittsburgh hills, with brick roads sloping through the neighborhood. Architecture styles include charming Stick homes with Victorian details like woodwork trim, bay windows, and roomy front porches, and American Foursquares with vinyl or brick exteriors and concrete staircases leading up to covered front porches. Most were built between 1900 and 1950, with most from the earliest part of the 20th century. They sit on small front yards featuring landscaping with verdant grass and shrubbery. Sidewalks are abundant throughout the community, which help residents walk to shopping and parks. Prices range based on the home’s age, size and condition, which means those looking for fixer-uppers can usually find multiple options. A 1,200-square-foot 19th-century Stick-style house needing some TLC can go for $45,000, whereas $380,000 will land a nearly 3,000-square-foot, partially restored Victorian from the early 1900s.
There are many different types of homes in the Ingram area that sit up on hills away from the road.
