A suburb removed from the hustle and bustle of Iowa City

Four miles from the Iowa City Downtown District, Southwest Estates is a small suburban enclave removed from the city's hustle and bustle. The neighborhood is ideal for quiet strolls and family living. Most residents buy houses there for the long term. "There's not a high turnover rate. The University of Iowa and the hospital are big employers for people who live there," says Realtor Kris Westfall, who sells houses in the neighborhood with Iowa Realty. The neighborhood is a mile west of the Avenue of Saints, which connects residents to Cedar Rapids. "It's a standard suburb," Westfall says. "There aren't any students in the area." The A Niche-rated Iowa City Community School District is also a big draw for homebuyers.
