Midcentury ranchers and 1990s Spanish Revivals

List prices in Ives Estates begin with the community's original condominiums, built in the 1970s and ‘80s. Units in these low-rise buildings typically range from the low $100,000s to the high $300,000s. New construction townhouses are more expensive, ranging from $450,000 to the high $600,000s. From casual dining along U.S. 441 to upscale shopping at Aventura Mall

Good eats aren’t hard to come by in Ives Estates. The community is bound by main thoroughfares like U.S. Route 441 and Ives Dairy Road, which are lined by eclectic, locally owned spots, such as Awash Ethiopian Restaurant. Named after an Ethiopian river, Awash is a family-owned eatery popular for homestyle Ethiopian cuisine. Chef Creole Seasoned Kitchen serves Creole classics down the street, but most head there for the signature spiced-up seafood. Winn-Dixie is right in the nearby shopping plaza, RK Centers.

Aventura Mall – the fourth-largest shopping mall in the United States — is just 3 miles west of Ives Estates. Walking through the expansive and airy indoor shopping mecca is home to more than 300 stores, and more are on the way with the recent addition of a two-story Saint Laurent boutique and the anticipated arrival of Eataly in the spring of 2025. And shopping there takes visitors past various contemporary art installations, from multicolored, multipatterned hanging square screens to bronze sculptures that double as benches.

Food Truck Thursdays at Highland Oaks Park

Ives Estates Park is set behind Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High. The green space recently received substantial upgrades funded by the Orange Bowl Committee. “They have all kinds of ball fields at the park, and it’s just a comfortable, safe area to be in,” says Larry Louis, a top producer for Keller Williams Elite Properties in Aventura. The park has athletic fields and courts for everything from tennis to baseball. Down Ives Dairy Road, about 3 miles from Ives Estates, Highland Oaks Park routinely fills up with delectable vendors for Food Truck Thursdays. Family-friendly live music plays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. as locals line up for authentic Latin street fare, decked out personal pizzas, churro-topped milkshakes, and more. Throughout the rest of the week, Highland Park is a quiet spot, popular for its lakeside walking loop, playground and athletic facilities.
