An emerging community on the south end of Jackson
Prospect Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, two major roads within the Southside area of Jackson, meet in Exchange. Once characterized by Jackson’s heavy involvement in the automotive industry, changes to business across the Rust Belt saw life in the city and across Michigan shift dramatically. The community of the area is still in the process of helping it find a new purpose, but contemporary efforts like the establishment of the Martin Luther King Corridor Improvement Authority and the conversion of an abandoned ten-mile railway into a vibrant walking path for the community give glimpses into the future of Exchange and the greater Southside.
Downtown Jackson is a short drive from the Exchange neighborhood.
