A suburban borough with small-town charm and rural outskirts
About 13 miles south of Pittsburgh is the borough of Jefferson Hills. It offers all the charms of suburban living while also having more rural areas near the outskirts of town. The community abuts the borough of Pleasant Hills, both of which are considered a part of the West Jefferson Hills community, known for its highly-rated school district. Area schools played a significant role in Jefferson Hills being voted one of the best places for families to live in Pennsylvania by WalletHub.com. “Most of the people here have been satisfied. We’ve got great schools and great housing prices,” says Lori Bost, a local Realtor of 25 years with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services.

Home styles and prices are varied
Homebuyers can choose from various houses, including custom new builds in planned subdivisions and ranch-style homes on sprawling lots. Townhouse communities and estates on large plots also dot the area. “We have homes here in the 100,000s and in the 800,000s. It’s a great market to be in because there are homes for everyone,” Bost says. New builds come in a variety of architectural styles. Popular options are contemporary, Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival. Older homes are often farmhouse, bi-level and ranch-style. Smaller homes built in the mid-1900s can sell for between $100,000 and $200,000, while larger ones can exceed $345,000. Newer builds range from $349,000 to around $620,000, and large estates top out around $840,000.
