Growing Tulsa community near many amenities

Living in Jenks, residents can enjoy a small-town vibe within a larger area — the South Tulsa community is known for its convenient location and rapid growth. On top of its city amenities and access to the Arkansas River, Jenks also has a well-regarded school district. “It’s a cute, small, big city that you can walk around in,” says Tiffany Johnson, a real estate agent at Chinowth & Cohen with almost 10 years of experience. “It’s a pretty supportive town, and it’s getting bigger.”

Expansive Craftsman homes with land

Homes in Jenks are more spacious than ones in surrounding areas and come with decently sized plots of land. The residential streets here are filled with three- and four-bed contemporary and traditional-style homes with high-pitched roofs, central chimneys, fenced-in backyards and garages. Large Craftsman homes with front gables can go for anywhere between $450,000 and $650,000. There are also large estates with Tudor-inspired architecture that cost $600,000 to $850,000. Most of these properties are either brand new construction or built in the 2000s. Some homes are found within pocket subdivisions that have their own homeowner’s association and accompanying amenities.

Parks, an aquarium and outdoor entertainment

When residents are looking for outdoor recreation, there are a few parks in the community they can explore. Veterans Park offers 8,000 square feet of ramps where people can practice their BMX or skateboarding skills, as well as a fishing pond, colorful playground and picnic pavilions. For those seeking a more low-key environment, Juniper Ridge Park has a small playground with slides and swings, plus a basketball court ideal for pick-up games. On weekends, many locals flock to the entertainment venue Riverwalk Crossing. There’s GolfSuites with its virtual games and Pinot’s Palette with its wine and painting activities. RiverWalk Crossing also boasts a summer concert series and scores of restaurants. Another city attraction is the Oklahoma Aquarium, which has a playground, a 3,800-gallon freshwater tank and species ranging from jellyfish and seahorses to sea turtles. Open since 2003, the aquarium is also known for its coral and bull shark research.

Shops and restaurants on East Main Street

When it comes to shopping and dining, East Main Street in Jenks has numerous local shops and restaurants that residents frequent. Start the day at Mojo’s, a family-owned coffee shop with gourmet espresso and protein balls. “Everyone has been to Mojo’s at least a few times,” Johnson says. “It has a great little location right in the middle of town.” For hardier meals, people can turn to Waterfront Grill for steak and seafood options. Its location right along the river creates a serene atmosphere great for special occasions. Those trying to get some shopping in can check out the garden center at Cobber Deans, the antique stores or the bicycle shop. Residents stocking up on groceries can travel to the Reasor’s or Walmart Neighborhood Market in the heart of Jenks. Dollar General awaits just north of Reasor’s for quick snack runs.

Though residents can find most of what they need right in Jenks, downtown Tulsa is only 11 miles north. "We are close to everything," says Donna Ogez, vice mayor of Jenks. "We are growing in economic development aspects to where there will be so many other opportunities to have fun and enjoy our city."

Traveling around Jenks

As expansive as Jenks is, most people prefer using their own vehicles to get around. Oklahoma State Highway 364 and U.S. Route 75 both cut through the area and make it easy for drivers to get where they need to go. However, the downtown Jenks area is pedestrian-friendly with a lot of cycling opportunities. In an emergency, Tulsa ER & Hospital is only 4 miles north of Main Street.

Due to Jenks being on the walking trail, there are many options for additional transportation.
